Radon exposure is the second leading cause of Lung Cancer following cancer caused by cigarette smoke. Lung cancer is also the 2nd most common type cancer following Breast Cancer for women and Prostate Cancer for men. Louisville (Jefferson Co and surrounding counties) are categorized by the EPA (Environmental Protection Agency) as Zone 1 which signifies radon is most dangerous zone for radon. Radon is tested by setting a radon meter in a home for 2 days to determine the level of radon in a home. All homes weather newly constructed or over 100 years old should be tested for radon to protect your family. If radon is determined to be high, it will be the responsibility of the seller to have a radon mitigation system installed.
